Twomey Opens Winery in Russian River Valley
Healdsburg, California
May 17, 2007
We’re thrilled to announce the opening of a new Twomey winery and tasting room in Healdsburg, California. Located in the heart of Pinot Noir country, just two miles from our West Pin vineyard, the facility is the perfect home for our Pinot Noir. We will continue to produce Twomey Merlot at our Calistoga winery.
“We now have a facility that’s uniquely suited to making our handcrafted Pinot Noir,” comments General Manager David Duncan. “The winery also gives us the space and equipment we need to adapt in the years ahead.”
The winery has a striking contemporary design. Glass walls offer expansive views of the landscape, and curving roof lines echo the shapes of the surrounding hills. Wrap-around patios create a beautiful spot to sit while sipping wine or taking in views of Mount St. Helena and Geyser Peak.
Inside the winery, we have added a host of innovative features specific to making Pinot Noir. Fermentors are equipped with punch-down rails that allow us to easily break up the layer of skins that forms at the top of the tanks several times a day. Sophisticated heating and cooling technology permits precise control of temperatures during fermentation and barrel aging.
Next time you’re near Healdsburg, be sure to come by and see our new home! Just a short drive down Westside Road, one of wine country’s prettiest back roads, it’s a wonderful place to sample our exceptional wines.
