Twomey Cellars Celebrates One Year Anniversary in Healdsburg

May 2008 marks the one year anniversary of our Healdsburg winery, dedicated to making Pinot Noir. In the heart of Russian River Valley and just two miles from downtown Healdsburg, we are proud to be apart of this world renown wine growing region and community.
“Being here in the Russian River really exposes us to so much more of the Sonoma County Wine area. Just a few miles from downtown Healdsburg, we have had the opportunity to welcome numerous visitors, both local and from around the world,” said Tasting Room Manager Romana Behrens.
We celebrated this milestone with an open house on July 10, 2008. Guests tasted our 2006 Pinot Noir, 2004 Merlot and 2000 Merlot while sampling local faire. Romana even baked one of her famous frittatas for the event.
In the cellar, we have made several changes to our winery to enhance our Pinot Noir winemaking capabilities. We have acquired fermentors with punch-down capability that allows us to easily break up the layer of skins that forms at the top of the tanks during fermentation. We have also installed a sophisticated heating and cooling system that permits precise control of temperatures during fermentation and barrel aging. In the years to come we plan to continue celebrating this charismatic varietal by producing Pinot Noirs from the best Pinot Noir growing regions across California.
